External Survey Links for WeJot Panel
This guide explains how to use a survey hosted on a third-party platform or your own site while recruiting respondents through the WeJot Panel.
This guide is for researchers launching a third-party survey. If you are a platform integrating respondents with the WeJot Panel, read Third-party Platform Integration with the WeJot Panel.
1. How it works
Create your survey on a third-party platform or your own site, then submit its link for a WeJot sample campaign. Each respondent receives a unique respondent code in the WeJot task page, enters it in the first required text question of your survey, completes the survey, and returns to the task page to submit completion.
You do not need to configure a redirect back to WeJot or append answers to the URL. The task page records completion.
2. Before you start
- The survey link must open normally on a phone and must not require an account or private access.
- The survey must support one required single-line text question.
- Its collection limit must cover your target sample size.
- Test the complete flow with one to three respondents before scaling up.
- After an external-link campaign is created, edit access is not provided. Create a new campaign when the link, question count, or sample size changes.
3. Create an external-link campaign
- Open WeJot and start a new conversation.
- Describe your sampling goal and paste the third-party survey link.
- When asked how to proceed, choose Keep the third-party survey.
- Open the external-link configuration page provided by the assistant.
- Confirm the link and enter the task name, participant instructions, and average question count.
- Wait for link analysis to confirm that the survey is reachable, the respondent-code question is required, and the content check passes.
- Configure targeting, quotas, and sample size, then pay and start the campaign.
4. Add the respondent-code question
This is the only required change in your third-party survey.
- Question type: single-line text.
- Question text: Please enter your respondent code.
- Required: yes.
- Place it near the beginning of the survey, after consent and before the first substantive question.
You do not need a redirect, URL parameters, hidden fields, completion codes, or a WeJot task ID.
5. Platform notes
On Qualtrics, add a required Text Entry question. On QuestionStar, Tencent Questionnaire, Credamo, or other third-party platforms, add a required single-line text question with the same respondent-code wording. Do not configure an end-page redirect. Test the full task flow before launch.
6. What respondents see
Respondents accept the participation rules, read your instructions, copy their unique code, open the third-party survey, enter the code, complete the survey, and return to the WeJot task page. They then choose whether they completed the survey or were screened out or ended early.
7. Review responses
The Statistics tab shows the respondent code, audience segment, validity, review deadline, submission time, and device information. Compare the code with the first question in the third-party survey when reviewing a response. Invalid responses can be marked invalid using the existing review controls.
8. Frequently asked questions
How do I verify the respondent code?
Copy the code from the Statistics tab and compare it with the response record on the third-party platform.
What if a respondent is screened out?
The respondent should return to the task page and choose Screened out or ended early. You can also mark the response invalid in Statistics.
What if the third-party quota is full?
Mark the response as screened out or ended early, mark it invalid when appropriate, and pause the campaign to avoid further invitations.
Why is the payment button disabled?
The link may still be analyzing, may be unreachable, may not contain a required respondent-code question, may have failed the content check, or may not have passed link verification.
Can I edit the survey link after creating the campaign?
No. Create a new campaign with the updated link, question count, or sample size.
9. Pre-launch checklist
- The link has been opened and tested on a phone.
- A required respondent-code question is present at the beginning.
- Link analysis has passed.
- Content compliance has no blocking issue.
- Targeting, quotas, instructions, and sample size are confirmed.
- A test respondent has completed the full task-to-survey-to-task flow.
- The Statistics tab shows the test response and respondent code.
